The Basics of American Roulette

Author: Bhawan Singh

American roulette is a game of chance. The game is betting; everything else is left up to the number on the board. The following is a quick overview of American roulette. First you must know that an American roulette wheel has 38 slots with the numbers 1-36, 0, and 00. These numbers alternate between even and odd numbers and between the colors black and red with the exception of the 0 and 00 slots which are green. The action of American roulette happens when the dealer spins the wheel and rolls a ball in the opposite direction that the wheel is spinning and once the ball slows down it will drop into a number slot.

That is the entire action of the game. The players only role in the game of American roulette is to place a variety of different types of bets. The two main bets in American roulette are inside and outside bets.

The following are the inside bets you can make. A straight bet is when your ball will land on a particular number. A split bet is betting that your ball will land on one of two possible numbers that are next to each other on the wheel. A three number bet (also known as street bet or trio bet) means that you win if your ball lands on any number in a certain row. A four number bet (all known as corner bet or square bet) means that you will win if your ball lands on one of four numbers that are all touching. A five-number bet means that the ball will land on the 0, 00, 1, 2, or 3. And finally a six-line bet means that the ball will land on one of six possible numbers in two rows that are next to each other.

Now for the outside bets. A red bet mean that the ball will land on a red slot. A black bet means that the ball will land on a black slot. An even bet means that the ball will land on an even number. An odd bet means that the ball will land on an odd number. A low bet means that the ball will land on a number between 1 and 18. A high bet means that the ball will land on a number between 19 and 36. A dozen bet means that the table is divided into three sections and then you bet on which section the ball will land in. A column bet means that your ball will land on the column you bet on.

Thats all there is to American roulette. The entire point of the game is to place bets, the rest is left up to chance, and how hard the dealer spins the wheel. So if youre feeling lucky why not try out American roulette.
